3 questions – 3 answers with: Thomas Haferkorn

What are your responsibilities as Director of Service at REINTJES?

I became director of service on June 1, 2025. For the two and a half years prior to that, I was manager for service sales, so I know the department very well from different perspectives. The job is varied and multifaceted, and I have to cover a wide range of tasks. It starts with spare parts, continues through our training centre, and ends with the service technician.

What challenges does the job involve and what is special about it?

The biggest challenge is definitely the time factor. In service, we work very closely with our customers at different levels. And of course, they don’t have time to wait for our solutions to their problems. Everything has to happen quickly – regardless of whether it’s a simple spare part or a major service callout.

On the other hand, I like this fast pace. We work on our projects at a high speed and constantly have to find internal solutions to different problems. This is extremely exciting and varied, especially as we have contact with all other REINTJES departments.

What I also really like is that our gearboxes are a unique selling point thanks to their durability. We can service almost all of the gearboxes we have delivered and are still in use. And we’re talking about more than 60 years here. That’s outstanding.

What sets REINTJES apart?

It may sound cliché, but it’s true: the family atmosphere. At the headquarters in Hameln, I know almost all of my colleagues, and communication and team spirit are part of everyday life. At the same time, there is an international touch thanks to the various subsidiaries and service partners worldwide. This combination is not something you find every day. Then there is the social aspect. The company daycare centre in particular is a decisive factor in enabling me, as a working father, to achieve the ideal balance between family and career.
