35 Gearige delighted with new dragon boat
A turning point for the dragon boat team from the Hamelin-based company REINTJES: after ten years and countless kilometres, the previous dragon boat is going into well-deserved retirement.
Instead, the team can look forward to a new boat for training and competitions.
The christening of the blue and white boat named Geariger Eugen – in reference to the former company boss Eugen Reintjes – recently took place at the Hameln Canoe Club. In proper style, of course, with Weser water.
In addition, Anita Holland, team captain of the Gearigen – the name of the company sports team that paddles – painted eyes on the dragon’s head on the front of the boat. And the maiden voyage was not to be missed either.
Outstanding team spirit
‘With our new boat, we are ideally equipped for the dragon boat race on the Weser in June,’ says Klaus Deleroi, who is already looking forward to the event on 22 June.
And the REINTJES Managing Director adds: „Our team has a lot of fun and ambition and also meets regularly outside of working and training hours. This team spirit and togetherness are outstanding and unique.“
One example of the great interest in dragon boating at REINTJES: there are only 20 places available in the Gearigen Eugen for around 35 team members.
The well-attended training sessions – one hour every Thursday from April to September – are therefore always a constant change.
„That’s not a problem. We also need such a broad squad because we have more planned for this year. In addition to the dragon boat race in Hamelin, we are also taking part in the dragon boat festival on the Maschsee in Hanover on the Whitsun weekend,“ explain the two team captains Anita Holland and Jonas Ostermann.
However, REINTJES has much more to offer its employees when it comes to sport and health.

‘Among other things, we have a running group, health days and a company medical service, and we work closely with a fitness centre in Hamelin and various health insurance companies,’ says Klaus Deleroi, who would be delighted to have more staff in various departments.
