TME Hybrid System from REINTJES: Compact design, lower emissions and high quality

A compact hybrid unit with real potential for the future. Suitable for a range of target groups and applications. These are the key specifications of the TME Hybrid System from REINTJES GmbH.

Our TME Hybrid System offers a number of advantages. The biggest one is that we fit the system with an electric motor/generator mounted on the gearbox – straight from the factory. This significantly reduces the installation workload at the shipyard.

At the same time, our TME system saves space thanks to the electric motor (40 to 280 kW) pre-assembled on top. This freestanding installation can therefore be carried out even in confined engine rooms.

Efficiency is another advantage. In PTI mode, the electric motor feeds its power directly into the gearbox and operates in parallel with the diesel engine. The result: lower emissions and a lower noise level. Added to this is guaranteed quality: the TME Hybrid System is fully tested by us.

TME: Target groups and areas of application

There are a number of applications for our new TME Hybrid System. Particularly in coastal areas or in ports, its zero-emission and low-noise operation offers an environmentally friendly and resource-efficient option.

The TME is therefore particularly well suited to ferries, yachts, supply and workboats, as well as naval and government vessels. We would particularly like to appeal to shipowners, shipping companies, engine manufacturers and ship designers.

TME: Parts and components

Our TME Hybrid System, as the hybrid unit of the future, consists of several main components. One of these is a highly efficient permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). This provides the drive system with additional power.

In addition, there is a control panel with frequency converters that regulate the flow of current to the motor, and an energy storage system for surplus energy (for example, from the diesel engine).

Our TME Hybrid System also includes a control system that ensures the balanced interaction between the diesel engine, the electric motor and the energy storage system.

TME: Benefits at a glance

Space-saving and easy to install

We pre-fit the electric motor directly at the factory, which significantly reduces the amount of installation work required later on at the shipyard. At the same time, the compact design of the electric motor/generator, which is integrated into the gearbox, saves space.

Lower emissions and greater efficiency

In PTI mode, the electric motor feeds its power directly into the transmission and operates in parallel with the diesel engine. The result is lower emissions and a quieter running noise. At the same time, electricity can be generated using PTO mode.

High quality and a wealth of expertise

Our TME is tested in its entirety by REINTJES and, as a genuine solution for the future, has already been filed for a patent. REINTJES Hybrid Power (RHP), with its extensive expertise in maritime hybridisation, is responsible for its distribution.

Why is REINTJES the right partner for ship hybridisation?

Our company has continued to develop steadily since it was founded more than 140 years ago. Today, we are a global player with eleven subsidiaries and offices in all relevant global markets, as well as 40 certified sales and service partners.

So, should a service request or breakdown occur anywhere in the world, we’ll be on site within 24 hours.

What else are we good at, apart from providing a comprehensive service? Above all, we specialise in manufacturing durable marine gearboxes – both small and large – with a power range from around 250 to approximately 40,000 kW. And, incidentally, these are made in Germany without exception.
